Julie Viens was born in Omaha, Nebraska, but has additionally lived in Colorado and California. From a very early age she was interested in pursuing visual arts. During High School, she moved to Los Angeles, California with her sister and father, then graduated from Fairfax High School in 1988. She first attended college at UC Riverside, as a Bio-Medical Science Major for two years. Deciding science was not the career path for her, Julie returned to her interest in art. Leaving UC Riverside at the age of 20, she attended Art Center at night as an Illustration Major, while taking additional classes at Santa Monica City College by day. Currently, Julie resides in the urban sprawl of Los Angeles, with her husband and their dogs.
Adept in several graphic design, layout, retouching, pre-press, and illustration programs, some of her clients have included: Guitar Center, Fender Music Foundation, Sock It To Me, EarthLink, Mattel, Toyota, Honda, Caesar’s Palace, Mc Donald’s, Yamaha, Suzuki, Pedigree Kal-Kan, Capitol Records, Rhino Records, and more.
Julie can be easily found creating artwork behind the computer, or easel. Of late she has devoted much of her free time to working in a variety of styles including: oils, acrylics, water color pencils, gouache and Copic markers. Many of the items displayed on this site show the varying types of media she enjoys working in.
